Description
We
are a family business established some 20 years, initially trading
from the Manor House at Lewknor. The business, family and showroom
have since moved on, and now we trade from our showroom at Garsington.
At Manor House Stoves we are able to supply and fit stoves from
most leading manufacturers, whether it be wood/multifuel, gas,
oil or electric. With more than 50 stoves on display we feel we
offer one of the largest ranges of stoves under one roof and with
more than 20 years of experience, sound unbiased advice.
Not many years ago the range cooker market was dominated by
one principal manufacturer. Not so now, there are too many to
choose from. At Manor House Stoves we have looked at them all,
experienced many, and chosen one with an extensive range of models,
offering all fuels types. A huge character, a distinctive style
and a pedigree which goes back over.....Years. That is ESSE.
There are two things that determine stove size. First and most
important is room size. Modern stoves have optimum temperatures
at which they need to run to give their true efficiency. Therefore,
if you have a large fireplace you may not need a large stove.
A simple equation is the cubic capacity of the room in feet, divided
by 500 to give the kilowatt output required. If a stove has too
greater output for the room and so not run efficiently tarring
of the flue will occur. Secondly - will the stove fit into my
fireplace? The space around a stove is important to allow the
heat to escape to the room, and avoid damage to the stove. It
also looks better if the stove and fireplace are kept in scale.
The first and most obvious reason for lining is if your chimney
leaks. i.e. smells in bedrooms and/or loft space, or there are
visible tar stains in plaster. A simple smoke test can answer
all sorts of questions, which need to be resolved. Secondly, the
physics of burning wood in as stove needs to be considered. The
construction of the chimney will be of stone, brick or lined with
clay, but they can all cool the flue gasses and therefore cause
condensation and tar. The installation of a liner will help to
maintain flue gas temperature and therefore decrease the potential
for condensation.
We live in an age where there is an increasing
concern about the environment and the effect that burning fossil fuels
is having on our climate.
Wood is one of
the few renewable fuels and burning it on a modern stove with clean
burn technology will help to reduce your consumption of fossil fuels,
and consequently your ‘carbon footprint’.
As well as being environmentally friendly, a wood burning stove makes economic sense with the rising cost of oil and gas.
