Calor Gas engineer. With
the ability to burn both wood and coal, Multi-fuel stoves
are an efficient way to heat your home. Multi-fuel stoves
can burn these two different fuels mixed together or separately.
A Multifuel Stove has a grate to hold the fuel above the ash,
allowing air to circulate from underneath. By closing the bottom
air vents on the Stove you can stop air coming up through the
grate. This then makes it into an efficient Wood burning stove.
The best wood to burn are dry hardwoods - eg. Ash. The wood needs
be cut, split and stored for three years. The wood should have
moisture content of 20% or below. Dry wood produces more heat
and burns much cleaner than damp unseasoned wood.
Smokeless coal is best as this type of fuel will burn
very hot without damaging the stove as well as leaving
little ash or clinker. Smokeless fuel must be used if
the stove is connected to a metal flexible liner. |
